Flexible points are used when the framed image has to be replaced frequently by the customer (such as a restaurant menu). In this case, in fact, it is easy to remove the image by folding the darts without any tools. After replacing the image, the arrows must be folded down to fix the image in the frame.
The points, compared to the nails, also have the advantage of being thinner and can therefore be used on frames with a very short stop. The flattened shape also helps to hold the picture flattened against the glass more effectively than the nails.
